This unique new resource for the field is a warm, accessible guidebook for a too-often untapped, yet powerful audience ... students who want to help their friends through this lonely and painful period in their lives. 32 page booklet suitable as a handout.
Active in the anti-rape movement for the past thirty years, author Gillian Greensite is the founding director of the Rape Prevention Education Program at the University of California at Santa Cruz. She pioneered campus dialogue around issues of body image, sexuality and men's role in rape prevention long before such issues became the norm on college campuses. She has developed highly popular educational programs on all aspects of rape awareness and prevention from small interactive workshops to large scale, new-student orientations. She is a frequent guest lecturer in academic classes. She has been the primary campus resource for sexual assault survivors of all ethnicities, genders and sexual orientations since 1979. Gillian is also a leader in her local community, standing up for survivors and working tirelessly up to the present, to have the issue of rape receive more attention from civic leaders and law enforcement. "RAPE AT COLLEGE: How to Help a Friend" brings to the page Gillian Greensite's knowledge, compassion and warmth.
